Asalamu Alaikum Warahmatulahi Wabarakatuh,
I cannot begin to say enough about this book. From the moment one picks it up, one is immersed into a world of personalities that many think no longer exist. A world where men truly fear Allah and shun the worldly pleasures that all too often get us away from what truly matters; to get closer to the Divine. In the first part of the book, Sheikh Nuh (may Allah preserve him) writes about the men he met on the path from his early days in a manner that makes one feel as though they are meeting them themselves. His descriptiveness is to the point where you can practically see them as you read. I'll be honest, I've not finished the book yet. I'm still in the process of reading and absorbing it. But 100 or pages into it and I can tell you, it's just gotten better and better as I've gone on. I only expect more of the same. It truly has made me want to be a better Muslim and has made me look at myself in a different light. It's one thing to hear of and read the historical works of Imam al-Ghazali and his like. It's something totally different to know people with that kind of piety still exist today. This book is sure to go down in history as a major, influential work in Islamic literature. May Allah bless and preserve the sheikh for his tireless work in serving the din and in helping along needy students like myself and so many others.
